The John Woo (Ng Yu Sum) directed epic film THE CROSSING cost 300 million yuan RMB and starred Chinese, Korean and Japanese stars like Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing Mo), Huang Xiaoming, Zhang Ziyi, Song Hye-Kyo and Masami Nagasawa. With more than 50 years of recent Chinese history, the story is about three couples of different backgrounds and nationalities and how the tides of history affected them. Although they experienced war and hardship, they were still able to find happiness.

The film yesterday officially began production in Huairou, Beijing with Ng Yu Sum, Gum Sing Mo, Bowie Lam Bo Yi, Faye Yu Feihong and others as they prayed for a smooth production. Zhang Ziyi and Song Hye-Kyo were not present.

Gum Sing Mo chatted a storm with Ng Yu Sum, then had serious discussions with him. He and Lam Bo Yi also shook hands and greeted each other. According to Korean reports, Wong Kar Wai found out about Song Hye-Kyo's Hong Kong visit and contacted her. He not only took her to dinner but also the Korean workers. Song Hye-Kyo and Wong Kar Wai also took photos together. She smiled brilliantly and leaned on Wong Kar Wai's shoulder. She even raised a victory sign, proving that the dispute was just a joke.

Song Hye-Kyo yesterday attended her Korean series THAT WINTER, THE WIND BLOWS press conference at TVB television city. Speaking of dispute rumors with directing Wong Kar Wai during THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI) production, she admitted that although initial the production felt difficult, they did not have any dispute. She even looked forward to continuing to work with Hong Kong filmmakers.

When Wong Kar Wai, Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Zhang Ziyi last month attended the China Film Festival in Seoul, Song Hye-Kyo was present as well. Next month she will work on John Woo (Ng Yu Sum)'s LOVE AND LET LOVE (SUN SEI LUEN). She also looked forward to working with Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing Mo) and Huang Xiaoming.

The 16th Shanghai International Film Festival held its opening ceremony last night, with several hundred stars on the red carpet. Chow Yun Fat led THE MONKEY KING (SAI YAU GEI JI DAI LAU TIN GUNG) team that included Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Donnie Yen Chi Tan, Joe Chen Chiau-En, Peter Ho Yun Tung, Eddie Cheung Siu Fai. Other stars included Andy Lau Tak Wa, Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun), Mini Yang Mi, Vivian Hsu (Tsui Yeuk Suen), Huang Xiaoming and others. Tsui Hark and Oliver Stone received "Chinese Film Award For Outstanding Contribution" and "Film Award for Lifetime Achievement" respectively.

Still recovering from his leg ailment, Huang Xiaoming walked the red carpet with the MOTHER ANDROID II and AMAZING teams. Tall Korean hunk Jo In-Sung walked the red carpet alone to the shrieks of female fans like at a fan club meeting. Sammi Cheng Sau Man was unable to attend, as Andy Lau Tak Wa, Johnnie To Kei Fung and Wai Ka Fai made an appearance for BLIND DETECTIVE (MAN TAM). Lau Tak Wa's fans welcomed him. Chow Kit Lun appeared as THE ROOFTOP's director and actor. He said that he participated in the music creation and action design as well.

The committee presented the Chinese Film Award For Outstanding Contribution Award to Tsui Hark. Andy Lau said, "I am very happy to be invited to introduce this friend. I have been in the business for over 30 years and made over 130 films, but I have only worked with him once. That time I learned how to act, how to find a movie that both the audience and I like. He enabled me to see the world from another angle, without forgetting my expectation and respect of you."

Tsui Hark said that he was very happy to receive the award. He thanked his collaboration partners, investors and good friend of many years Shi Nansun.

International director John Woo (Ng Yu Sum) took a break to recover from illness. After five years, LOVE AND LET LOVE recently announced its July production start and confirmed that Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing Mo) and Huang Xiaoming to be its lead actors opposite lead actresses Zhang Ziyi and Song Hye-Kyo. Originally Song Hye-Kyo was to pair with Chang Chen, but due to scheduling issues he finally turned it down. Xiaoming was not afraid of being the "second choice". When he received the invitation he agreed without any hesitation. He felt that being able to work with Ng Yu Sum would be able to widen his performing art vision. However Xiaoming's manager has been quiet and said that it was inconvenient to make any response.

The Shanghai International Film Festival's Golden Goblet Awards have 14 nominated films, 3 of which are Chinese films. They are the Dante Lam Chiu Yin directed UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN), Sherwood Hu Xueha's AMAZING and and Barbara Wong Chun Chun's THE STOLEN YEARS. UNBEATABLE's lead actors Nick Cheung Ka Fai and Eddie Peng Yu-Yen caught attention as they will compete with Huang Xiaoming and Joseph Chang Hau Chuen for Best Actor. In the film Cheung Ka Fai played a lost fighter, earlier his muscle man transformation was already the talk of the town. Peng Yu-Yen during the shoot also had 3 months of hellish training to turn his body into 3% fat condition.

Hugo Boss two nights ago held a 2013 winter fashion show in Shanghai. Chow Yun Fat and Cherie Chung Chor Hung since ONCE A THIEF (JUNG WAN SEI HOI) and AN AUTUMN'S TALE (CHAU TIN DIK TUNG WA) have not worked together again. Two nights ago they reunited and posed for photos with Fat Soh. With younger version of themselves Huang Xiaoming and Michelle Chen also on hand, Fat Gor said that it was a rare sighting of "Two Chow Yun Fat, Two Chung Chor Hung". Although Hung Goo humbly said that Michelle Chen was young and pretty unlike her, Fat Gor joked, "Tonight there are two Chow Yun Fat and two Chung Chor Hung because Xiaoming and Michelle are here too, they look like us!"

Turning 30 yesterday Michelle Chen said that Hung Goo was her idol. "She is the goddess of my heart. The first time I met her I was very nervous. I definitely will get a picture with her, it's my biggest birthday wish." Michelle Chen finally got her wish and even posted her photo with Hung Goo online. She said that she was under Hung Goo's spell. She also celebrated her birthday with co-workers and Mickey Mouse.
