DaDa Chan Jing's sudden online retirement announcement has three rumored versions in show business.

Version 1: DaDa was upset about being set up, being accused of arrogance at the LAN KWAI FONG 3 (HEI OI YEH PO 3) production start ceremony when she only grabbed her friend Celia Kwok and declined to be interviewed with her junior colleague Mika Siu. After the incident saw press, DaDa was angry that the company did not protect her image and only used her. Thus two days ago around noon she revealed that she was disillusioned online and cried over the matter. After discussing with her family she decided to retire.

Version 3: DaDa has always been popular. The more famous she became, the higher social status her suitors had. In recent years she has been linked to an Indonesian restaurant heir, then caught on a date with Taiwan rich kid star Wang Chia Liang. Celia Sie Lim Chi also was rumored to have introduced the Kowloon Bus heir to her. She however has denied all the rumors. DaDa complained that the media gave her too many rumors so she was unable to find the real deal. Recently DaDa was rumored to have found a Mainland rich kid true love. He did not want her to withstand too much pressure and suggested for her to retire and take care of her compensation issues for her.

Version 3: DaDa worked on the supernatural film TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH). Because she was too in character and did not know how to leave the character, she often suspected that she was being haunted and even said to workers that she ran into ghosts. Under paranoia her mood was affected.

Having worked with DaDa on two films, Susan Shaw Yam Yam said that when DaDa made TALES FROM THE DARK she was often ill and even mentioned to everyone that she ran into ghosts. Shaw Yam Yam felt that DaDa gave herself too much pressure and did not know how to release it. If she was determined to retire it would be good. She would not try to change her mind and would only silently wish her well. "If she wants to change business and someone is willing to give her a chance, she should give it a try. Film industry new comer Cherry Ngan Cheuk Ling has two film releases in a row, one is about ghosts and one sells hot blood. They are very challenging to her acting abilities! In the dance film THE WAY WE DANCE (KONG MO PAI) she still has her first lead. It was test screened in March and later participated in film festivals around the world. Cherry's acting and dancing received compliments from fans everywhere, but she said that early in the shoot she once lacked confidence. "During the shoot I haven't danced in awhile, the physical demand was enormous. I didn't get to rest for a week and was aching all over. I was down, but everyone was very close. So we definitely had to finish this dream!" In her supernatural film TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) she worked with Best Actor Tony Leung Ka Fai and Kelly Chen Wai Lam and benefited alot. She praised the two elders for being very friendly. Ka fai even took care of her like a kind father.

The Simon Yam Tat Wa directed new film TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) was screened at the New York Asian Film Festival and the Busan Film Festival. Some after watching TALES FROM THE DARK praised Brother Wa, "if he doesn't act he truly can switch to directing". Faced with mass anticipation, Brother Wa humbly said, "Rookies like us only hope for more opinions and more encouragement from viewers."

During the shoot, Brother Wa was so nervous that he could not sleep. He often thought about camera placements in the garden and shot on location in Tin Lok Lane, where car accidents constantly took place. For work and character, Brother Wa and a child actor spent many days inside a small coffin room. H said that at the time he was exhausted mentally. "I can describe it with the words 'paranoia breeds hidden ghosts'."

Actually earlier when Brother Wa attended an event and played golf in the Mainland he ran into something strange in the hotel. He said, "A big group of people in the same environment took pictures from the same angle, only the photo from the photographer's camera had a 'human head'. After seeing it I was restless. After returning to Hong Kong one day I received a call from the hotel, saying that the room is already taken care of and I could go and play anytime. I asked what happened. Actually they hired a master to look into it and learned that a 'girl' was in the living room. In other words she kept me company for a few nights."

Brother Wa liked to compare supernatural events with a "coin". "It has two sides, depending on how you see it. When the less things are going people's way the more horror they would think of, the opposite is true as well."

Lillian Lee Bik Wa's novel series has been adapted into TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) and TALES FROM THE DARK 2 (KEI WAN YEH). In the first TALES FROM THE DARK Lo Hoi Pang and Susan Shaw Yam Yam's scene blasted "Z.Y. Leung" and went viral online. The upcoming release TALES FROM THE DARK 2 had an appearance from 'Butchered Room Bo'. Teddy Robin Kwan directed this segment, with Vincent Wan Yeung Ming as the "Uncle Bo" character.

When Wan Yeung Ming appeared and said to his mobile phone, "I 'Butchered Room Bo' have over 200 rooms, my word is gold. You can relax! With an 1,000 square foot unit including a balcony, I can butcher it into 8 rooms for you! Of course! Profit to the max!" The dialogue would make people smile from the heart. Wan Yeung Ming's image was "Uncle Bo head" with gold wire frame glasses and a suit. It was not hard to be reminded of the negative news tangled Development Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po.

The story was adapted on Lee Bik Wa's short novels that were released last year. The original work did not have "Butchered Room Bo", the film added this character in the last minute. Lee Bik Wa admitted that it was a parody but the story also required it, since its climax took place in a butchered (subdivided) room.

New film industry star Cherry Ngan Cheuk Ling in the film TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) worked with Best Actor Tony Leung Ka Fai and Kelly Chen Wai Lam. Cherry played a ghost who committed suicide for love, a role with a lot of potential. Speaking of the white face ghost make up, she said that it was not difficult for her at all. "Normally I would mess around, even if it's more grotesque I wouldn't mind. The character experienced a teacher student relationship and suicide and had a lot of emotions, instead the emotional scenes were more difficult."

Has she run into anything supernatural in real life? Cherry revealed that when she was little she spoke to the air. Looking back her hair was standing at its end. "Mommy told me that one day I was playing with building blocks, suddenly I spoke to the air and ask people to play with me. Grandpa just happened to have a dream, in which she saw many children in ragged clothing outside our home. One of them always looked into our home. Ma thought that those two incidents were related! It was pretty scary!"

Simon Yam Tat Wa two nights ago led Cherry Ngan Cheuk Ling and Susan Shaw Yam Yam to a TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) audience appreciation event. The STOLEN GOOD segment director and star Brother Wa said that the four day accumulation of HK$4 million at the box office was better than expected. He was very pleased and the boss also said that a celebration will be held.

Brother Wa said that in the film he had a lot that he wanted to say to his daughter, but his daughter was still too young to watch it. She pouted and said that she wanted to watch it. Thus he hoped to be able to make a family ghost film so she would be able to enjoy it as well. Brother Wa had nothing but praise for new comer Cherry, much more improved than her acting in their previous film NIGHTFALL (DAI JUI BO). She was able to play such a tough character very naturally. He was very happy that Hong Kong had another good actress. Cherry thanked Brother Wa for his instructions and advice, praised him as a good Papa and a nice guy. She hoped to have a chance to work with him again and be the lead actress in his film.

Everyone's arms were tired from all the hitting. Did Chan Jing after winning the Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actress award charge "new film salary"? She said, "I am very pleased with the salary, but I took the role before winning the award. Actually I am the happiest about (Fruit) Chan Gor asking me to perform, I would be fine even if I had no salary. The most important is the chance to work with him."

Shaw Yam Yam praised Chan Jing's performance in the film, "She has to express hatred, anger and helplessness through her eyes, her performance was very outstanding." Chan Jing started as a pseudo model, in several years her acting has already been recognized. She said, "I feel very fortunate to walk a road that belongs to me. In film I found my way. I didn't know myself before, now I found the goal for me to continue to work toward. The process is tough, but so is every job. The most important is to face it and to improve." Shaw Yam Yam said, "People have to be upward mobile, you became famous after one or two years. I experienced several decades. The writer Lillian Lee Bik Wa novel series NIGHT has been adapted into films, TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) and TALES FROM THE DARK 2 (KEI WAN YEH). Chen Wai Lam performed in one of the TALES FROM THE DARK stories. She and Leung Ka Fai worked together like conjoint twins to fight off ghosts. Although it was a ghost film, they looked rather funny. Leung Ka Fai played a fengshui master. Kelly played a crystal psychic. They both were shaky as ghost hunters.

Actually Best Actor Leung Ka Fai has never made a ghost film. Because he worked with director Lee Chi Ngai on TOM DICK AND HAIRY (FUNG CHUN SAM HUP) and he liked the character, he agreed to perform right away.

Simon Yam Tat Wa and his wife Qi Qi two nights ago attended a shoe store opening. Promoting his new film TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) Yam Tat Wa joked that he wanted his wife to play a hot ghost. Claiming to be a ghost on stilts, Qi Qi revealed that her husband brought props from the set home and almost scared her half to death. "After Hubby finished the film, he took two ghost doll props home and said that he wanted to give them to our daughter. Finally at breakfast I could the ghost doll on the table and I was scared to death. Hubby had good intention. This gift was too scary, I refuse to accept it!" Qi Qi finally asked the maid to hide the ghost doll in a secret place. Yam Tat Wa joked that the home had plenty of sunlight so it had no taboo.

Simon Yam Tat Wa's directing debut TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) two nights ago held its premiere in Mongkok. Aside from live people in offering doll disguises for atmosphere, the film's actors Maggie Siu Mei Kei, Lo Hoi Pang, Susan Shaw Yam Yam and others attended. Qi Qi even made an appearance to support her husband and helped with giving away laisee to people. Friend Wai Ying Hung also dressed up in support and gave Yam Tat Wa a passionate hug to cheer him on.

Yam Tat Wa revealed that during the shoot she scared Qi Qi for 30 days. He joked, "This time I brought my wife to scare her, I also want to see the audience reaction. During the shoot I already scared her for 30 days, at the time I was distracted. In the middle of the night I would go out to the garden to think about what angles I would use for the shoot tomorrow. Never watched a supernatural film he instead had more imagination to make the film. Because he was too focused, he became paranoid. Since the shoot he has not had a good night sleep. However as soon as he saw his daughter, his negative emotions would be swept away. Earlier he spoke with the Cable program Film Montage and was asked if he enjoyed directing? Brother Wa bitterly laughed and said, "After completing it and watching it again I enjoy it, but during the 40 days of the shoot it really wasn't fun. I couldn't sleep at all. I was restless and terrified. Now I understand what 'suspicion breeds hidden ghost' is. The more you think there is ghost the more you have. Horror actually comes from people's conscience."

Yesterday DaDa Chan Jing appeared at the airport to fly to New York for its Asian Film Festival. Earlier due to her less than fluent English, DaDa became the laughing stock. On this trip she brought along English books so she could catch up and make up for past embarrassments.

DaDa said that she brought 10 sets of clothing in hopes of being at her best every second. She even joked to take the chance to run into Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun). DaDa said, "I know Chow Kit Lun's THE ROOFTOP will be the closing film, so I very much look forward to running into him there. Then I will definitely take the chance to make more opportunities."

DaDa recently worked with Susan Shaw Yam Yam again on the film TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) she performed in a Fruit Chan Gor directed segment. Two Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actresses again set off sparks in the film. Sister Yam Yam praised DaDa's outstanding acting that opened her eyes. "She was born to be in our business. In TALES FROM THE DARK, three thugs raped DaDa. She said that this scene was the most memorable. "At the time I was so scared that I cried. Because rape scenes ultimately involved physical contact, and it had to happen in such a small place like a car truck, I was bruised all over."
