Aside from the chair and the board members, the film's lead actress Zhang Ziyi also made an appearance and surprised Wong Kar Wai.

Special screening host Matt Weiner has produced and directed many American television series. He was a Wong Kar Wai super fan and thus volunteered to host. THE GRANDMASTERS will open in the U.S. in August. The audience reaction was overwhelming at the special screening. Jet Tone will make a new cut for the American release and add new sound effects.

The John Woo (Ng Yu Sum) directed epic film THE CROSSING cost 300 million yuan RMB and starred Chinese, Korean and Japanese stars like Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing Mo), Huang Xiaoming, Zhang Ziyi, Song Hye-Kyo and Masami Nagasawa. With more than 50 years of recent Chinese history, the story is about three couples of different backgrounds and nationalities and how the tides of history affected them. Song Hye-Kyo and Wong Kar Wai also took photos together. She smiled brilliantly and leaned on Wong Kar Wai's shoulder. She even raised a victory sign, proving that the dispute was just a joke.

The Taiwan hunk Eddie Peng Yu-Yen and Mainland star Bai Baihe film A WEDDING INVITATION (FUN SAU HUP YEUK) was selected to the Korean Chinese Film Festival closing film. Zhang Ziyi and Tony Leung Chiu Wai yesterday flew to Seoul, Korea to prepare for the China Film Festival Sunday with famous director Wong Kar Wai. The 66th Cannes Film Festival closed yesterday. The only Chinese film in competition this year, A TOUCH OF SIN, won Mainland director Jia Zhangke his first Best Screenplay award. Jury chair Steven Spielberg praised him. "He is a director with vision. The 4 true stories in the film left a deep impression with the jury. Everyone liked it very much."

As early as 2002 and 2008, Jia Zhangke participated in the Cannes Film Festival with UNKNOWN PLEASURES and STILL LIFE both returned home empty handed both times. This time with A TOUCH OF SIN he won his first Best Screenplay award. He said, "From UNKNOWN PLEASURES to now, a lot of changes have taken place in China. The first draft of the script isn't detailed enough, I want to do better. Right now the script is being changed." Lord Eight would give Chi Tan a lot of freedom in order for Chi Tan to have his biggest breakthrough. "The film company hoped to make a Mandarin version and an English version. For realism, a scene will be shot in two languages, which will be quite a challenge for the actors' ability to remember the script."
