This year is the 10th anniversary of Anita Mui Yim Fong's passing. Design master Eddie Lau Pui Kei who has worked with her countless times remembered this song queen of a generation with an exhibit of 70 pieces of his work, including 20 some stage costumes of Mui Yim Fong. The exhibit yesterday held an opening ceremony. Chief Secretary for Administration Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet Ngor, former Director of Broadcasting Cheung Man Yee, Pak Suet Sin, Mandy Mui Suet Sze, Connie Chan Bo Chu, Petrina Fung Bo Bo, Liza Wang Ming Chuen, Jenny Lam Yin Nei, Zhou Xun, Hilary Tsui Ho Ying, Wyman Wong Wai Man, Andy Hui Chi On, Sammi Cheng Sau Man, Denise Ho Wan Si were among the guests. As soon as Lau Pui Kei saw Pak Suet Sin he immediately gave her a kiss.

When Lau Pui Kei recalled his past with Mui Yim Fong he broke down twice. He said that he met Mui Yim Fong on July 18 1982 at the New Talent contest. Since then their collaborations shocked the 80s. He tearfully said, "Over the years I only designed Mui Yim Fong's image, I only made stage costumes for others. I only admit to the chameleon Mui Yim Fong!" No Mui Yim Fong memorial concert will take place this year. Lau Pui Kei did not feel any regret as he felt that no one would be able to sing the Mui Yim Fong flavor. He stressed, "She was someone of love and honor, everyone can dislike her but no one can question her character! I never expect her to write such a will, which left me very dejected!" Hui Chi On and Cheng Sau Man were on hand, avoided each other and kept their distance. Hui Chi On stressed, "Today's focus definitely can't be stolen. The focus is on Mui Yim Fong and Lau Pui Kei. Lau Pui Kei took me to shop for me first record cover. 25 years later today it still is a masterpiece of brown double collar suit jacket that is worth HK$16,000. I was reluctant when I borrowed several months of salary from the company to buy it. Mui Yim Fong gave me a lot of opportunities. Back then she often asked the company to release a record for me, which made me into today's Hui Chi On."

The exhibit not only displayed Mui Yim Fong's stage costumes but also Lau Pui Kei's designs for Lam Yin Nei, Pak Suet Sin, Michelle Yeoh (Yeung Chi King), Ho Wan Si, Roman Tam (Law Man), William So Wing Hong, and Wang Ming Chuen. Wang Ming Chuen loaned the Lau Pui Kei 1981 design of golden fan shaped evening gown to the exhibit. She said that she was the first generation artist who asked Lau Pui Kei to design concert costumes. The first time she performed at Lee's Theater she asked him to design four costumes. She said, "My early record covers were all his designs. He was forward but not 'outrageous', he was able to bring out the artist's aura." Would she invite Lau Pui Kei to work together again? Wang Ming Chuen joked that he now only works with brand name labels. Perhaps only Ho Wan Si would be able to bring him out of retirement.

The film BLIND DETECTIVE (MAN TAM) is director Johnnie To Kei Fung, Andy Lau Tak Wa and Sammi Cheng Sau Man's 10 year reunion. Wa Jai joked that To Kei Fung's personality was the character's blue print. "I completely cloned how he mercilessly yells at people." Wa Jai said that during the shoot To Kei Fung "sang after scolding at him". He said, "As soon as the production began I had to blindly run around in a forest. I had no action director or protective padding, I never stopped. With so many people on the set, I couldn't mess up. After 4 takes I said that my clothes were soak through and I had to change. After a 20 minute break I had to shoot a tree climbing scene. At the time I was suffering, I was out of breath. I didn't expect To Kei Fung to say 'you are old'. At the time I wanted to jump on him and hit him. In the end the scene was still cut. Later at the press conference he sang that my strength was on the decline." He joked that next time he would not work with To Kei Fung on an action film again.

Wa Jai complained that when they made RUNNING ON KARMA (DAI JET LO), To Kei Fung saw Li Bingbing perform a mid air stunt and took the chance to yell at him. "Even a girl can do it, yet you can't." Andy Lau Tak Wa admitted that when he made BLIND DETECTIVE (MAN TAM) he imitated Johnnie To Kei Fung. In the film he was the most convincing with To Sir's gluttonous personality, as he and Sammi Cheng Sau Man ate nonstop. On street stalls they had stinky sausage, ice cream and a feast at a high class restaurant. Sammi who has been working hard to stay in shape but also loves to eat said that eating during the shoot was a gift. Luckily she had to keep running and was able to burn up the excessive calories.

Wa Ja in the film was blind but had many funny action scenes. In one scene he and Lam Suet were in a forest chase. Lam Suet was chasing after him with a hammer. He dodged the attacks with the sounds and climbed onto a tree to hide and wait for a rescue; Wa Jai joked that he has not had such a funny action scene in a long time. To prevent fans from thinking it was real, at night Sammi clarified that someone impersonated her and sent out this photo. She hoped fans would be nice and not to take a joke too far. She said, "Neither the photo nor the words came from me personally, they came from impostors. I know that they don't have any bad intention, but they have to be nice and not to take a joke too far. In the film BLIND DETECTIVE (MAN TAM), Sammi Cheng Sau Man went through Hell and high water for director Johnnie To Kei Fung. In the film Sammi had 30 different looks, the running scene was the most eye catching as she revealed a 3 inch "career line". She joked that it was the result of professional lighting. Sammi also liked to play with her costumes. Normally she would not dress like a rock chick, in the movie she could get her fill of fun.

Sammi also displayed her agility in the film, with several bags of rice boxes she ran the stairs and soaked in the pool. She even climbed from a second floor balcony to a nearby light post and then slid down. She said that during the shoot she kept saying that she was very afraid. Even Andy Lau Tak Wa praised her abilities and called her the new generation of action star! Sammi everyday ran 8 kilometers to train, highly difficult stunts could not stump her. Yet with her asthma, in the film she had to smoke 3 cigarettes. It was her biggest challenge. Luckily the result was funny, which she thought was worth suffering for.

Sammi Cheng Sau man earlier competed for the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actress but lost to Miriam Yeung Chin Wa. She again was nominated for the Chinese Film Media Award Best Actress, which touched her and was gratifying for her. However she did not forget to joke that she has lost all 7 previous nominations.

Sammi happily posted online, "After learning that I was nominated for Best Actress again with ROMANCING IN THIN AIR (GO HOI BUT JI LUEN II), mi's first Chinese Film Media Award nomination, I am unusually touched. This is the 8th nomination of my life (lost all 7 times). This performance quietly caught attention and was recognized for the nomination, I am very grateful! As happiness and gratitude spread within, this nomination has given mi a lot of encouragement that is very heavy and very sweet, thank you!" Her competition included Kwai Lun-Mei, Sandrine Pinna (Cheung Yung Yung), Yan Bingyan, and Hao Lei.
