[2013.08.01] THE ROOFTOP HEADS TO 120 MILLION YUAN IN CHINA

Eric Tsang Chi Wai took part in the Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) directed new film THE ROOFTOP and played a Chinese medicine clinic boss Lord Bo. Chow Kit Lun wrote a song for him to perform, singing 39 words in 10 seconds. Chi Wai joked that it was quite a bother because Chow Kit Lun kept saying that he was "half a beat behind". This time he did not accommodate him and loosen his demand on music. Finally the recording took half a day to complete. He felt that Chow Kit Lun was still not 100% satisfied with his performance.

In the film he and Taiwan comedy artist "Na Dou" played father and son. They did not resemble each other at all. Actually Chi Wai's daughter Bowie Tsang Bo Yi pulled the string. Once she made the suggestion to Chow Kit Lun on a flight, finally Chow Kit Lun during casting truly pulled them together for the collaboration. Chi Wai joked that when he saw Na Dou, he felt that he had to go to Korea for plastic surgery and make himself uglier in order to match him. THE ROOFTOP performed ideally at the Mainland box office. As of two days ago it was heading toward 120 million RMB.

[2013.07.26] NO KISS, ONLY ROMANCE FOR JAY CHOU

The Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) written, directed and starred THE ROOFTOP features the 1/4 Russian new "J Girl" with a resemblance to Angelababy, Li Xinai. They have many sweet romantic scenes in the film. Producer Will Liu discovered Li Xinai while crossing the street, then he introduced her to Chairman Chou. Thus she was jokingly nicknamed, "Cinderella of the Crosswalk". Although Li Xinai had no performance experience, with her fresh and cute look she caught Chairman Chou's eyes.

Playing a big star in the film, Li Xinai received Chairman Chou's mad pursuit. Chairman Chou brought her to the night market for gold fish and serenaded her on the rooftop to win her heart. Chairman Chou also hung in mid air to give her roses. She gave up her first on screen kiss in her first performance, but to The Drifters' Darren and not Chow Kit Lun. Actually always "keeping his integrity" Chairman Chou gave the opportunity to his good brother Darren. Chairman Chou joked, "This prove that I am very righteous, I didn't benefit myself." He even said that Darren and Li Xinai would perform a strong rape scene.

The Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) directed and starred film THE ROOFTOP two nights ago held its premiere in Kowloon Tong. Fiona Sit Hoi Kei, Alex Fong Lik Sun, Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung, Paco Wong, Emperor boss Albert Yeung Sau Sing, Sammy Sum Chun Hin, Oscar Leung Lit Wai, Lu Chen as well as almost 200 fans showed their support. Chow Kit Lun said that he has not held an autograph session in Hong Kong for years, this night felt like one to him. He thanked everyone for not forgetting him and hoped that fans would support the film. He looked forward to the film's Hong Kong box office to be able to pass his previous direction SECRET (BUT NUNG SHUET DIK BEI MUK). Speaking of the film's Taiwan release with less than ideal box office, Chow Kit Lun said, "I too thought it was curious. I was confident but had no certainty. Taiwan box office needs luck. Taiwan has less theaters and most show Hollywood films, but as long as I can live with myself it's OK. The word of mouth is more important than the box office. I will think about awards later." Chow Kit Lun said that he will continue to work hard on the director road, as he still had many subjects that he wanted to make like aliens and UFOs. He said, "I wanted to make SECRET Hollywood version, would I ask Leonardo (DiCaprio) to play it? Let me think about it!" He joked that since he has not found an investor it would depend on this films' box office. If the box office would be decent, he would have more money for next time.

After SECRET (BUT NUNG SHUET DIK BEI MUK) Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun)'s second film as a director THE ROOFTOP will on August 1st in Hong Kong. The most attractive scene to viewers was his bath house "rent collection" scene with Alan Ko Yau Lun. Because the bath house owner was a renowned mean guy, they appeared topless to show off their muscles in order to look tougher! Chairman Chou even showed off his eight pack abdominal muscles!

For this scene, Chairman Chou accepted a tailored fitness plan of many small meals with low grease, low salt and low sugar beverage. He said, "This is the best shape of my life." Chairman Chou on the set ran into Eric Tsang Chi Wai and immediately put up his shirt to show off. "I wanted to let Brother Chi Wai know that I have put a lot of effort into this film. I hope to be able to do every part to its best."

[2013.07.14] JAY CHOU CLAIMS TO BE "MUSIC SCENE JADE MAN"

courtesy of on.cc

Taiwan Heavenly King Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) earlier promoted his new film THE ROOFTOP and accepted a rare overseas interview with the Singapore media. In the interview Chairman Chou joked that he was a "music scene jade man", he did not accept kiss, bed, nude scenes in his film productions. He also added, "I still have a singer image, for over a decade I still had anyone that was very passionate. The scripts would be filtered first." He said that kiss and bed scenes were just gimmicks, leaving some space for the imagination would be even more romantic.

[2013.07.10] JAY CHOU'S FEAR OF HEIGHTS MAKES ROMANCE SCARY

Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) for his musical film THE ROOFTOP created 35 new songs. With his second turn as a director, he has seen many musical films with outstanding song and dance numbers. Thus he put a lot of effort into making musical scenes logical.

Chairman Chou and lead actress Li Xinai in the film sat dangerously on a three story tall speaker for romance. Their legs dangled in mid air. Li Xinai even kicked the bottoms of Chairman Chou's feet to scare him, which made his fear of height act up as he said "scary". Chairman Chou was not pleased with his own performance and asked to reshoot the next time. At first he even said, "It was too high, the film would be a little affected." Finally he admitted that actually he was afraid of heights. The scene had to be shot anew.

After last week's film premiere, Taiwan's Cultural Department chief praised Chairman Chou's new film. "This is a very smart film. How can someone who knows art, knows emotions, knows commercial, and mixes a variety of elements together so well?" He even suggested that the film could be turned into a stage performance. Chairman Chou's friend and Taiwan Heavenly Queen Jody Chiang Hwei was busy with work and unable to attend the premiere. Chairman Chou asked the film company to give her an advanced screening. When she said Chairman Chou's eight pack abdominal muscles she immediately screamed. She said, "I like guys with single eyelids very much. Chairman Chou's character is very mesmerizing. His physique is also so well trained, His charm truly is irresistible!"

[2013.07.09] JAY CHOU: NO SLEEP WHEN INSPIRATION STRIKES

courtesy of singtao.com

Recently busy promoting his new film THE ROOFTOP, Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) yesterday continued to Chengdu. Chairman Chou hoped that the film will broke 100 million yuan at the box office. In addition, earlier in an interview he revealed that he was afraid of water, height and closed spaces. He revealed that for the film he had to climb onto a 3 story tall bull horn for romance. He stated, "It was too scary."

The film had a lot of a musical elements. Chairman Chou created almost 40 all new songs, including the Nakasi style Taiwanese songs MONEY IS HARD TO MAKE and NIGHT MARKET WALK; the overseas team that he worked with did not dare to believe that he was able to shoot, act and create music on the set at the same. Chairman Chou joked, "When inspiration thrived it was quite a bother, because I didn't get to sleep." He even confidently said that fans could watch the film before deciding to buy the original soundtrack.

Taiwan Heavenly King Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) after THE SECRET (BUT NUNG SHUET DIK BEI MUK) again wrote, directed and starred in the musical THE ROOFTOP . The film will be released on the 11th in the Mainland, Malaysia, Singapore and other locations simultaneously. Yesterday Chairman Chou, lead actress Li Xinai and producer Will Liu appeared at the Shanghai premiere. Chairman Chou took care of everything from directing, acting, composing, costumes, action choreography to editing himself, but Chairman Chou admitted that the action choreography was the most difficult because the action had to follow the beat. He also revealed that he originally was very worried about Li Xinai's performance because she had no acting experience. Yet as her acting gradually improved, he relaxed.

Earlier Chairman Chou while promoting in Wuxi boasted that he would score his film over 100 points and described it as "three good movie". "Good with word of mouth, good with box office, good with award. Recently many movies have had high box office but not too good word of mouth. (Do you think it will win an award?) I didn't win any directing award before, just a new comer award." He also admitted that the film and music making processes were drastically different. Film production was a group collaboration but song writing was solo. "I have been bored and alone for a very long time. I don't have any siblings, so I like to work with good friends. In the film the redhead character was my middle school classmate."

[2103.07.05] DADA CHAN CATCHES UP ON ENGLISH

courtesy of on.cc

Yesterday DaDa Chan Jing appeared at the airport to fly to New York for its Asian Film Festival. Earlier due to her less than fluent English, DaDa became the laughing stock. On this trip she brought along English books so she could catch up and make up for past embarrassments.

DaDa said that she brought 10 sets of clothing in hopes of being at her best every second. She even joked to take the chance to run into Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun). DaDa said, "I know Chow Kit Lun's THE ROOFTOP will be the closing film, so I very much look forward to running into him there. Then I will definitely take the chance to make more opportunities."

DaDa recently worked with Susan Shaw Yam Yam again on the film TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) she performed in a Fruit Chan Gor directed segment. Two Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actresses again set off sparks in the film. Sister Yam Yam praised DaDa's outstanding acting that opened her eyes. "She was born to be in our business. Working with such a young out of the oven Best Supporting Actress, I feel very fortunate. After Ah Mui (Anita Mui Yim Fong)'s passing, I haven't seen any actor who could play different characters. Working with her, I felt I got a lot of out of this life. I really like this script, in addition Chan Gor is the director. It absolutely is a Heaven sent chance." DaDa was very touched to receive Sister Yam Yam's praise. "I am very happy. Actually we interacted, without her my acting couldn't be brought out. Earlier we worked together on a comedy, this time is my new attempt."

In TALES FROM THE DARK, three thugs raped DaDa. She said that this scene was the most memorable. "At the time I was so scared that I cried. Because rape scenes ultimately involved physical contact, and it had to happen in such a small place like a car truck, I was bruised all over."

[2013.07.03] JAY CHOU WANTS THE ROOFTOP TO IMPRESS OVERSEAS

courtesy of singtao.com

Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) 6 years later returns to the director's chair and made the film THE ROOF TOP. Earlier a premiere was held in Beijing. He along with Xu Fan, Li Xinai and other actors attended. The film will open on July 11. Chairman Chou's expression of love in the film is very romantic, but he said that in real life he was not romantic. Very rarely he would say to someone I love you, even for his mother he would only express his love through a song.

Chairman Chou hoped that Chinese musicals would be able to cross borders. He felt that it rivaled Hollywood's. The film has already been selected to be the 12th New York Asian Film festival closing film. Aside from Southeast Asia release, it will land in North America on July 19. Chow Kit Lun said, "The scale has to be large. It's not just made for the Asian market. When foreigners watch it they will feel it's amazing too!" As for box office expectations, Chairman Chou did not answer. Fans however boldly said 2 billion.

Known as the new comer with the most potential in the music scene in recent years, Sita Chan Hei Yi (originally named Chan Ho Yi) passed away in a car accident in the early morning of April 17 and ended her 26 year short life. Yesterday her funeral services began at the Po Fook Memorial Hall. Her parents, younger sister, mentor Paco Wong, confidant Lam Hau Man, rumored boyfriend Sammy Sum Chun Hin, a group of industry friends and almost 300 fans paid their respects. Cries echoed throughout the halls and broke hearts. Mother Chan in the memorial book broken heartedly wrote, "Seeing the pajamas on your bed, the song drafts and make up on the table, my heart and insides shatter from the pain!" Rumored boyfriend Sum Chun Hin wrote, "Your singing and smile are the best gifts for fans." Paco Wong said that he would always remember Sita.

Chan Hei Yi's funeral decorated the halls in white with pink roses and music symbols. Her final photo was from her second record with a brilliant smile, which her family chose for everyone to always remember her smile. Sita liked Doraemon and a cardboard likeness was on the hand to keep her company. Her sister produced a video to be played at today's funeral. Her remains will be cremated after the funeral and her ashes will be placed at the Po Fook Memorial Hall.

Sita's parents and family yesterday arrived around 2PM, the location was filled with plenty of offerings, as well as origami cranes from her fans and friends. They originally wanted to fold 10,387 cranes to represent Sita's 1987 March 10 birth date, the final count was over 60,000. A moth flew in and caught everyone's attention. Dr. Lam Hau Man who reportedly funded Sita behind the scene arrived around 3:30PM to pay his respects. He stared at Sita's photo, then workers accompanied him for a final glimpse of Sita. Around 5PM he stepped out of the elevator and the media flocked to take photos. He waved them off to indicate no interview.

Yesterday a public memorial took place, almost 300 fans waited early on and entered the hall around 5PM. Many fans wore school uniforms; many fans after paying their respects broke down. A female student said that she has liked Sita for a year and wished her idol a safe journey.

Chan Hei Yi got along with people well, many friends in the business came to pay their respects. They included Sum Chun Hin, Fiona Sit Hoi Kei, Stephanie Cheng Yung, Alex Fong Lik Sun, Terence Siufay, Dr. Lee Shing Chak and his wife Sandy Lau Sin Ting, Kelvin Kwan Chor Yiu and others. Siufay and Lau Sin Ting were saddened, Siufay cried so hard that he needed assistance. Sum Chun Hin did not take a final glimpse of Sita. He said, "Sita's family wants to be low key. I already accepted her passing. A good friend has passed away, which is regrettable. I think Sita would want us to be happy. Today so many friends are in attendance, she should be very happy." He did not talk with Sita's parents and would not attend today's funeral.

The record company originally wanted to release Sita's memorial record yesterday, but the printing could not make the schedule and the release has been postponed. 500 sets were prepared for family and friends. The photo book that came with the record included messages from Sita's family, idols and good friends, one of which was a wedding photo that Sita posed for the day before her passing. Paco Wong said, "The memorial record release is to fulfill Chan Hei Yi's wish. Singing was her favorite, her biggest dream was for more people to hear her songs. The first printing had several thousand sets." Paco Wong in the memorial book simply wrote, "Always remember you". Mother Chan broken heartedly wrote, "Touching your still moist face, seeing the pajamas in bed, the song drafts and make up on the table, my heart and insides shatter from the pain......your beautiful outside and inside will always be in my heart......I even have no regret from having this excellent daughter!" Father Chan wrote, "You are my pride, I am proud of you. I hope to be father and daughter again in the next life." Her sister wrote, "Sister, thank you for spending 20 years with me, with joy and sorrow, laughter and tears. From now on you will always be in my heart."

Rumored boyfriend Sum Chun Hin wrote, "You always greet people with a smile because you say when you don't smile people would mistake you for being mad and mean. You have successfully made all the people who love you only remember your smile, proving that you are a very hard working artist who is very worthy of respect. Your singing and your smile are the best gifts for fans."

Chan Hei Yi started in 2011. Although she was only in the business for two short years, she had plenty of friends in the business. In the "Chan Hei Yi memorial photo book" Sita's idols Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung wrote, "May you rest in peace" and "May you find music wherever you go". HotCha members Crystal and Winkie, Sit Hoi Kei also wrote about their memories of her. Winkie wrote, "I liked your directness and sincerity, your smiling silly lady personality." Also enclosed was a photo of her with Sita pouting cutely.

Crystal said that if she was able to, she would pretend that Sita went on a beautiful vacation and would wait to see her again in another space and time. She even asked Sita to "remember not to be forgetful and bring our love on the trip". Endy Chow Kwok Yin wrote, "Because of your optimism, self confidence, courage, you always brought smiles to others, radiated on the stage, and persisted your love and ideas". G.E.M. Tang Chi Kei has not known Sita for long, but after a few conversations she already thought Sita was very true and lovable.
