Article: "Even the most popular members share their income" What's the secret behind idols and their income distribution?
Source: Newsen via Nate
Industry associate, "Most idols contract for an average of seven years. Recently, it's changed to five years. For the most part, idols will equally distribute their income for at least half of the duration of their contracts."
For the first half of their contracts, idols will share their income no matter how many individual activities they have. For the second half, they'll usually get to keep what they make for themselves.
Another associate said, "It'd be a lie to say that there isn't any discord within idol groups over this. Contracts are coordinated this way, however, to set the mindset of them being a team and prioritizing the team over themselves. If we let the more popular member keep everything that he/she earned right from the beginning, there's a bigger chance for discord. We go for an equal distribution to prioritize team cohesion."
1. [+743, -110] I can understand variety or music promotion income being distributed equally between the four miss A members but they have to be thieves to think of taking money from Suzy's drama activities... Why would you ever accept that money? I'd be too embarrassed to
2. [+685, -83] When Suzy promotes as an actress, she's promoting as Bae Suzy, not miss A's Suzy... She should not have to share that income.
3. [+597, -86] So it seems most contracts share at first before dividing it up later on in the contract... But if miss A had a conscience... I'd be really pissed, though. Suzy practically promotes all by herself and yet they all receive equal pay ㅋㅋ Probably the same for her recent drama too
4. [+70, -14] I don't get why everyone is hating on the other members??? They never signed the contract thinking that this would happen. They all trained for longer than Suzy so I'm sure they thought they'd be more popular than her. If you remember what Jo Kwon said, the longer you are a trainee, the more money you have to pay back to the company. I'm sure the remaining members want to be out there making money too.. Who would be happy sitting back and watching Suzy promote solo on all the shows?
5. [+52, -13] What's up with the best replies? They all signed the contract together without knowing at all who would achieve fame or popularity first. I see it more as the group sharing the risks that come with their debut (not being successful). It could've happened in any which way, like another member blowing up in popularity over Suzy. The other members don't deserve hate for it tsk tsk
6. [+49, -6] From Suzy's perspective, yeah it's not fair... but I think it's more the agency's problem than anything because they're the ones showing bias and only promoting one or two members at a time. The other members are probably just as stressed.. They don't deserve to be hated on for something out of their control.
7. [+36, -2] The contract itself is fine and makes a lot of sense if you think about the time that they're signing it. They're rookies with no guarantee at all for their futures so they're sharing the risk of failure because you're going to at least be making some type of money even if all four members don't get popular together...
8. [+34, -2] Well you could think about it from the perspective of the other members... When Suzy's out promoting alone, miss A can't promote as a group so it's unfair for them as well.

Article: Suzy "The terms of my contract were changed this year, my revenue ratio was increased"
Source: Newsen via Nate
"Any income is divided within the group in our company. It changed this year so that I get a little bit more for what I make."
1. [+722, -67] No but really, why do the other members take a part of her income anyway?????????? Pretty sure that will only cause discord within the group later
2. [+711, -70] How pitiful. She works without even beinga ble to sleep while the members just sit around and make free money ㅋㅋ
3. [+586, -77] Do they not have a conscience... Just let her take all of what she earns... Poor breadwinner ㅠㅠ
4. [+70, -6] Wow, so everything Suzy's been earning so far was shared with the miss A members?
5. [+62, -7] It's not even my business and this pisses me off. She works so hard to the point where she can't practice even if she wanted to and yet the other members take all that money? Stupid JYP, fix Suzy's income immediately.

Article: 'Healing' Suzy, "I cried because I didn't want to do 'Dream High'"
Source: Mydaily via Ntae
"I cried when I was first offered my first lead role in the drama 'Dream High' and refused to do it. I never had acted before and I didn't have the confidence to do it. I really felt like I couldn't do it and didn't want to do it but I had to in the end. There were so many acting controversies surrounding me. I made a diary after that and reflected a lot in writing. I never had dreams to go into acting but the experience made me want to get better at it so I started working harder. In the diary, I said that I wanted to try acting in a movie and I really got the opportunity to. That movie was 'Introduction to Architecture.'"
1. [+253, -31] I'm actually glad that she realizes she's lacking as an actress unlike other idols who seem to think of the profession as a definite right
2. [+217, -32] She talks as prettily as her face. It was great to see her let loose and laugh otu loud throughout the broadcast ^^ She said she gets hurt by hateful comments so I hope that she doesn't read them as often and just lets them go even if she does!
3. [+212, -41] Suzy has a charm to her that makes whoever's watching her feel really happy..bb

Article: 'Healing' Suzy "I feel upset when I hear comments calling me 'pretty'"
Source: OSEN via Nate
"Whenever I get off stage, I should be hearing things like 'you did well' but instead people tell me that I'm 'pretty' or 'cute' and that upsets me. Reading comments like that make me want to work harder. I've wanted to do well in everything I've done but when people judge me based on my looks and not my talent, it makes me try even harder."
1. [+253, -57] She really seemed like a positive, happy virus person. I had no idea she was that great of a singer as well when I heard her sing Younha's song at the end. After hearing what she has to say about herself, I think she'll definitely improve in the future~
2. [+222, -29] It was really funny of Lee Kyung Kyu ajusshi to give her a pinch and call it a hateful comment vaccination in case she got hateful comments after the broadcast ㅋ
3. [+202, -49] Suzy really made me laugh all episode long ㅠㅠ Made me realize she's such a lovely person

Article: Suzy 'Healing Camp' cries mid-recording "Is it okay to say this"
Source: Mydaily via Naver
1. [+2,337, -237] The reason Suzy's popular right now is because she has such a natural, clear image in a generation overflowing with plastic surgery monsters ㅋㅋ She's not the typical beauty we've always celebrated but compared to all the plastic surgery monsters, she looks prettier ㅋ The industry is so sad lately... less and less natural looking faces like Suzy's
2. [+1,660, -109] JYP's breadwinner
3. [+1,585, -77] She doesn't seem like a miss A member anymore
4. [+1,764, -365] She's pretty with some weight on, pretty with some weight loss, she's even pretty with a double chin when she laughs...
5. [+1,447, -135] I like Suzy but I don't think idols should be on Healing Camp... Park Jin Young is really working her too hard.

Article: Idol acting attempts in the first half of 2013, only Suzy receives an A grade
Source: Sports Donga via Naver
1. [+3,288, -240] Suzy's really pretty but her acting is not good enough to receive an A yet...
2. [+3,113, -293] I think Jung Eunji deserves an A for 'That Winter'
3. [+2,507, -141] Uhh, who graded this?
4. [+2,262, -158] Let's just settle on idols never acting
5. [+2,294, -269] What a title;;; Gu Family Book didn't do well because of Suzy's popularity. The drama took off with Wol Ryung's popularity. The majority of the viewers didn't watch for Lee Seung Gi and Suzy but for Wol Ryung and Seo Hwa. Suzy's not horrible at acting but definitely not A grade;; I don't hate her but the title of this article is really asking for it
6. [+1,839, -191] Suzy's not talented but you have to admit she lucks out a lot
7. [+1,568, -46] The highlight of Jang Ok Jung is in the last episode when Han Seungyeon shows off her crappy acting... Pisses me off to this day.
8. [+1,290, -72] I feel like several idols did decently... Park Hyung Shik did well in Nine and Kikwang did well in that drama special. Suzy was a bit awkward in the beginning but she started improving towards the end. It's just that she isn't used to the tone historical dramas use in their speech. She's not great but definitely not worth all this hoo ha over bad acting..
9. [+1,118, -75] There is not one idol worth receiving any grade in acting... Suzy did well because the drama did well, not for her acting.
10. [+950, -49] I love Suzy but this is wrong. Just because a drama did well doesn't mean the actress is the one that pulled it off with an A grade.
11. [+974, -149] More like an F
12. [+734, -67] I don't think there's any idol who can live up to Jung Eunji in 'Reply'... Suzy's good but Jung Eunji was amazing and she followed up in that Jo In Sung drama too

Article: Jung Woo Sung "Acting idol Suzy, she's been catching my attention lately"
Source: TV Report via Naver
1. [+1,877, -412] Jung Woo Sung hyung, I totally understand how you feel ㅜㅜㅜㅜ Every man feels the way you do
2. [+1,758, -416] Jung Woo Sung's in big trouble ㅋㅋ I can already see the start of his Suzy syndrome ㅋㅋ There's no cure for it!
3. [+1,447, -245] Suzy must have some immense appeal to men or something
4. [+960, -241] I think any man would feel the same.........
5. [+776, -269] If you're a Korean male, you can't not love the idol one top, nation's first love Suzy.
6. [+662, -185] It's the same for any man... and since Jung Woo Sung's a man, yeah...
7. [+98, -12] Yeah, men normally go for the innocent/cute image like Suzy than sexy
8. [+84, -13] I actually think Suzy's career will last longer than her peers... Jiyeon and IU both ruined their image and she's the only one out of her peers that still maintains that innocent image. As long as she doesn't screw herself over by doing something weird, her popularity will last for a while.
