Lillian Lee Bik Wa's novel series has been adapted into TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) and TALES FROM THE DARK 2 (KEI WAN YEH). In the first TALES FROM THE DARK Lo Hoi Pang and Susan Shaw Yam Yam's scene blasted "Z.Y. Leung" and went viral online. The upcoming release TALES FROM THE DARK 2 had an appearance from 'Butchered Room Bo'. Teddy Robin Kwan directed this segment, with Vincent Wan Yeung Ming as the "Uncle Bo" character.

When Wan Yeung Ming appeared and said to his mobile phone, "I 'Butchered Room Bo' have over 200 rooms, my word is gold. You can relax! With an 1,000 square foot unit including a balcony, I can butcher it into 8 rooms for you! Of course! Profit to the max!" The dialogue would make people smile from the heart. Wan Yeung Ming's image was "Uncle Bo head" with gold wire frame glasses and a suit. It was not hard to be reminded of the negative news tangled Development Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po.

The story was adapted on Lee Bik Wa's short novels that were released last year. The original work did not have "Butchered Room Bo", the film added this character in the last minute. Lee Bik Wa admitted that it was a parody but the story also required it, since its climax took place in a butchered (subdivided) room.

Ah Sa in her Emperor Motion Picture THE MIDAS TOUCH (CHIU CUP GAING LEI YUN) had her eyes on small time actor Gao Yunxiang. She worked for free to be his manager and used her own money to help his launch into stardom. In the story Gao Yunxiang was left in mid air for work, Ah Sa immediately climbed to the platform to feed him. Somewhat afraid of heights Ah Sa's legs were shaking. Yet as soon as the director gave the order, she immediately performed fearlessly. Looking back at the harsh time of her start, Ah Sa said, "Because we always did cartwheels we often got hurt. Luckily I had Ah Gil (Gillian Chung Yun Tung) to share the load. I also thank Mani (Fok Man Hei)."

Gao Yunxiang finally "turned down" Ah Sa and described himself as "heartless". "How can I give up a manager who is pretty and loves me? Such a manager is truly few and far between." Lo Hoi Pang also guest starred and he again impersonated Lydia Shum Din Ta. Ah Sa could not stop laughing.

Donnie Yen Chi Tan is known for risking his life on the set. Earlier when he made the film ICEMAN 3D (3D BING FUNG HUP) he had both extremes with ice and fire. After many fight scenes in the snowy and icy Changbai Mountain in May, earlier he worked on a major scene in Tuen Mun under over 30 degree (Celsius) heat. The action director as well, Chi Tan commanded over 100 actors in many large scale scenes. Chi Tan was used to large scale scenes, so this time was not too difficult to him. However, the sun was blazing during the shoot. Chi Tan was in the sun for several hours and had to move around in wide open space. Finally in the middle of the shoot Chi Tan felt ill and looked pale like he had a heat stroke. He needed to sit quietly and rest. Luckily, after rest and drinking some water to lower his temperature he recovered very quickly. By the end of the shoot, inspiration struck as he shot a group photo with over 100 extras. It was not just for the memory but also considered for the film poster use!

Veteran actor Lo Hoi Pang was also on hand. He said that he felt "lucky" about not having a chance to fight Chi Tan in this film and joked that he was worried about getting hurt. He also praised Chi Tan's costume as special, just like THE TERMINATOR. "He looks very much like Arnold Schwarzenegger!"

Speaking of his suspected heat stroke, Chi Tan said, "That day was sunny. I sat to the side just to rest a little. Which one of my movie wasn't tough to shoot? I have been in even tougher situation. It's not all that special! However, after a shoot once as soon as I got home I had a fever, had to take medicine and rest. The next day I was able to continue to work. My life is a tough one! (Was this film very tough to make?) No, instead I feel with every shoot I hope to bring something new to the audience. The pressure that I give myself is worse than anything. This film I added some dark humor into the film, hopefully the viewers will feel the freshness."

Chi Tan and his wife Cissy Wang will celebrate their 10th anniversary this year. Although Chi Tan in recent years have been making one movie after another, he said that in the end of August he will take a few days off to celebrate with his wife. "At the end of August I will go to the Venice Film Festival. My wife will come along so we can celebrate as well."

Simon Yam Tat Wa's directing debut TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) two nights ago held its premiere in Mongkok. Aside from live people in offering doll disguises for atmosphere, the film's actors Maggie Siu Mei Kei, Lo Hoi Pang, Susan Shaw Yam Yam and others attended. Qi Qi even made an appearance to support her husband and helped with giving away laisee to people. Friend Wai Ying Hung also dressed up in support and gave Yam Tat Wa a passionate hug to cheer him on.

Yam Tat Wa revealed that during the shoot she scared Qi Qi for 30 days. He joked, "This time I brought my wife to scare her, I also want to see the audience reaction. Juno Mak Chun Lung's directing debut RIGOR MORTIS (GEUNG SI) will be released at the end of October. The film mixed Japanese supernatural and Hong Kong local zombie film specialties into a horror film, with stars Wai Ying Hung, Anthony Chan Yau, Richard Ng Yiu Hong, Nina Paw Hee Ching, Lo Hoi Pang and others. The RIGOR MORTIS trailer has been released on many U.S. film sites, with its share of bloody scenes and animated effects it received raves online and was looked forward to. Juno said, "This time the film took two years to plan and half a year to produce. Orange Sky Golden Harvest will distribute the film. The Hong Kong classic film MR. Lo Hoi Pang yesterday attended a cable program taping. He said that he often had tea with Lau Kar Leung, but since the beginning of the year he has been ailing and thus no longer appeared. He called and sent his sympathy. Lo Hoi Pang said, "He told me to relax, and even said that he would see me later. Yet after that phone call, we never saw each other again. As people leave, sooner or later it will be my turn to go!"

Speaking of playing "Z.Y. Leung" in his new film TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) for villain hitting, Lo Hoi Pang felt that director Fruit Chan Gor wanted to air some grievances on behalf of Hong Kongers through the character. He was not afraid of crossing anyone either.

On July 1 some chose to march on the street in protest, some cooked up a summer outdoor concert to celebrate the Hand Over. Almost eight years without a movie, Hong Kong Film Award winning director Fruit Chan Gor chose to express himself with satire in film. His new film in TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) paired the "mic check" expert Lo Hoi Pang who played mobster "Leung Chun Ying" with the Susan Shaw Yam Yam played Canal Road villain hitting aunt and displayed freedom of speech at the excuse of Chief Executive C.Y. Leung. Director Chan Gor stated that on July 1 he will join the street protest march.

The film TALES FROM THE DARK was an Emperor Entertainment investment that was based on Lillian Lee Bik Wa's NIGHT series novel, with Chan Gor, Lee Chi Nga and Simon Yam Tat Wa directing three stories. In Chan Gor's segment, mob boss "ZY Leung Chun Ying" Lo Hoi Pang had someone in his way, thus he went to Canal Road to ask Shaw Yam Yam to hit a villain. Known for his "mic test", Brother Pang not only exchanged foul language with Shaw Yam Yam but also got the name "Leung Chun Ying" from the director. Due to the homophone with the Chief Executive's name, the film obviously had fun at his expense. Even the classic line that C.Y. Leung used all the time to deny unauthorized building works at his home, "As I remember, no" was added in the dialogue and through Brother Pang's mouth the Chief Executive was also called something foul.

Director Chan Gor yesterday said that adding the name of Leung Chun Ying's name meant that Hong Kong still had the freedom of speech. He said, "Brother Pang's character in the original work was only a mobster and didn't have a name. During the shot it was added at the last minute. 'Leung Chun Ying' had no special meaning, it's purely for fun. During the shoot in November, his news was on fire so I added something from the society in there. At the same time it proved that Hong Kong can still afford to mess around, ultimately it has freedom of speech. I don't have any pressure, so far I haven't received any complaint from the boss. I think they don't mind. Since it is a ghost film, it can't be released in the Mainland. We can do whatever we want and make what we want, it's just for fun. If you can take it then take it, if you can't then whatever!" The film will open on July 11th. Although Chan Gor said that during the shoot he never thought its release would be close to the sensitive date of July 1. He said that he would march on the street that day because it was the day for the people to express their demands. He said, "I support the march because the march expresses demands. Now July 1st has already become the day the people express their demands, it's not as simple as anti whoever. Now Mainlanders would come to Hong Kong too, through June 4, July 1 to make demands against unfairness in the Mainland. If I will be at work I won't be able to help it, if not I will march on the streets."

Original worker Lee Bik Wa yesterday said through the film company, although she did not know in advance that Director Chan Gor gave a name to her character, after finding out she thought it was rather interesting. Lee Bik Wa said, "I feel it's pretty interesting and funny, the name has quite of modern feel. In addition Hong Kong is a place with the freedom of speech and hasn't had a ghost film in a long time. Since it is ignoring the Mainland market, it shouldn't need to self inspect." She revealed that she would respond to July 1 March in her own column.

Suffering from diabetes, So Hung Suen yesterday passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital at the age of 62. Earlier her right foot began to rot and she had numerous operations. She had to remove the rotten flesh on one of her toes and the bottom of her foot. Reportedly aside from diabetes she also had a light stroke and a tumor in her belly.

So Hung Suen's son last night around 8PM announced the news of his mother's passing to the media. "Mommy around 4PM left this world. She went very peacefully. Mommy's final journey will be handled with a Buddhist ceremony." He revealed that his mother passed away from complications from a stroke. "The doctor will discuss the details. I want to say that Mommy went very peacefully. Most of the most important family members were around her, so Mommy had no regret." So Hung Suen's husband Hui Sing Biu arrived around 8:30PM. He looked calm and often covered his mouth with his hand.

Law Lan and Yu Mo Lin who have always stayed in touch with So Hung Suen yesterday confirmed the news of So Hung Suen's passing. Yu Mo Lin said, "Earlier she suffered a stroke and her belly had a tumor. However the worst part was she was anemic, her body was very weak. The doctor didn't dare to operate on her." Law Lan was rather sadden by the passing of her good friend. She admitted that she heard the news from Maggie Chan Mei Kei. "Sunday I went to her home. She was speaking and called me Sister Law Lan."

Playing mother and son with So Hung Suen in the classic series POLICE CADET (SUN JAT SI HING), Tony Leung Chiu Wai was very sadden to learn about her death. "Sister Suen and I are both Buddhists, I hope Sister Suen will soon reach Sukhavati. I will always remember the destiny of working with her." His wife Carina Lau Ka Ling said, "Sister Suen was a very gentle actress without any grievance with the world. She was serious about work, kind and caring to her colleagues. I wish for her to reach Sukhavati soon. She will forever live in my heart." Johnnie To Kei Fung, the director of So Hung Suen's final work LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE (DUET MING GUM), said that he just dined with her several months ago. He admitted that the news came too suddenly. "Ultimately life in the end requires a period. Aside from her outstanding acting, her merciful and charitable heart has put a perfect period to her life."

So Hung Suen in 1972 enrolled in TVB's first artist training class, with classmates like Ching Ho Wai, Hui Siu Hung and Kam Kwok Leung. Because Sister So looked older than her actual age, she often played mother or elderly characters. Sister So's acting was excellent as she participated in around 50 television series. She had a lot of representative work, her best known character was Leung Chiu Wai's mother in POLICE CADET. In 1996 she left TVB to assist her husband in their Buddhist vegetarian restaurant business. However she returned to ATV in 1999 for a series and would occasionally participate in film as well. Last year with LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE she won the Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actress. However at the time she was being treated for diabetes at the hospital, thus she was unable to personally accept the award.

So Hung Suen's vegetarian restaurant business also suffered several setbacks. In 2005 due to rapidly rising rent, she and her husband decided to close their Mongkok vegetarian restaurant. In 2006 they began to sell pillows at a Fa Yuen Street stall with a daily rent of HK$400. Then in 2008 they opened the Cute Fei Vegetarian restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui. It is still in operation. She and her husband also met due to the vegetarian restaurant. They wed in 1988 and had a son and a daughter. So Hung Suen's final public appearance was on January 27 at a Karmapa public event, also on hand were Annie Liu On Lai, Bonnie Law Ming Chu and Fennie Yuen Kit Ying.

Winning the Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actor in 2012 with So Hung Suen, Lo Hoi Pang said, "Half a year ago I went to To Kei Fung's party with Sister Suen. I learned that her health was poor and she was much thinner. (Were you thinking about asking her to watch your show?) I didn't want to disturb her! Diabetes really is troublesome."

Her first training class classmate Kam Kwok Leung said, "We had no contact in recent years. Earlier when I was a Hong Kong Film Award juror. When she won with LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE, people misunderstood that it was because we were classmates. (Did you feel heartbroken and sudden when you heard the news?) No, at a certain age people expect it, instead I would see if there is anything that I want to. I would try to do it instead of safeguarding my life. This should be the attitude to have in life. She believed in the Buddha, I believe she would think that way."

Fellow training class classmate Hui Siu Hung said, "I heard the news. I rarely contact old classmates. Recently I haven't seen her. I knew that she had diabetes and a tumor, which were quite troublesome."

Performing Artist Guild secretary general Astrid Chan Chi Ching said, "The Performing Artist Guild now is contacting Sister Suen's family. If any need arises, the Performing Artist Guild will fully assist. Sister Suen was a very nice person, I am very saddened."

So Hung Suen's LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE co-star Denise Ho Wan Si said, "Sister Suen was a good actress who show business should have more of, being able to work with her in LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE was my honor. I will always miss her!"

Josephine Siao Fong Fong yesterday appeared in the Hong Kong Coliseum to visit Jim Chim Shui Man and Lo Hoi Pang's rehearsal for their impersonation show. Sister Fong presented her classic character Plain Jane's glasses to cheer them on. Jim Sir was so surprised that he jumped for joy. Brother Pang jokingly asked Sister Fong Fong, "Did you take a wrong turn?"

Sister Fong Fong said that she rather enjoyed Jim Sir and Brother Pang's humor, but due to her ear ailment she could not watch the show. Yet she still bought several dozen tickets in support, so friends could tell her about it after watching. She also thanked Jim Sir for working on the sex education course videos for her End Child Sexual Abuse Foundation. Brother Pang joked, "Oh! You help her do it!" Jim Sir suggested for Brother Pang to help the cause. Sister Fong Fong said that she had to take the chance and invite him. Brother Pang of course agreed. "I will teach people no to compensate dating and yes to screwing around."

Louis Koo Tin Lok, Sean Lau Ching Wan and Nick Cheung Ka Fai starred in THE WHITE STORM (SO DUK) and earlier shot the wrap scene. The three leads during the shoot fought until they were bruised all over, the ending was no exception. Goo Jai and Muay Thai master fought in close combat, during which he aggravated his old leg injury. Ching Wan got some powder into the corner of his eye from the reactionary bullet.

Earlier, Daneil Lam Siu Ming and Lo Hoi Pang prepared red wine and champagne at the set of THE WHITE STORM to cheer on the cast. Brother Pang led with the champagne bottle opening and spray Goo Jai and Ka Fai. Everyone ran for cover. Ka Fai who did not drink was afraid of getting drunk, so he kept lowering his head and pretended to pour for everyone. He thought he got away with it, but Goo Jai found out. He immediately teamed up with boss Lam Siu Ming and ganged up on him. Finally with just two cups, Ka Fai still left drunk.

That night actually the wrap scene was shot. Goo Jai and a large Thai fighter fought. Because he was too strong, all the action aggravated his old leg injury. He needed to apply ice immediately to relieve the pain. Director Benny Chan Muk Sing immediately suggested using a double, but Goo Jai insisted on completing this scene. He said, "I have always been after the perfect performance."

Ching Wan on the other hand in a gun fight got powder in the corner of his eye from the reactionary bullet. He kept tearing up as he could not open his right eye. He had to rinse it right away to avoid an infection. Ka Fai was the first out of the trio to finish his scenes, but in the moment before the wrap, Ching Wan had to drag him around on the floor that was covered in broken glass and wood. Luckily he was not injured, but his head and back hurt a lot from being dragged.

"Fei Fei" Lydia Shum Din Ha has passed away for 5 years already. Yesterday was Fei Jeh's 68th birthday and ALWAYS LOVE LYDIA CONCERT took place at the Hong Kong Coliseum. Fei Jeh's friends gathered to remember her. Yesterday guests in the audience included Deborah Li and her husband, Mrs. Alan Tang Kwong Wing and her daughter, Fei Jeh's sister also returned from Canada to participate.

Last night the hosts were Carol Cheng Yui Ling, Eric Tsang Chi Wai and Nat Chan Pak Cheung. When the concert opened Fei Jeh's past performances were shown. Then the hosts remembered their experience with Fei Jeh. Do Do remembered that when Fei Jeh presented an award at the 2007 TVB Anniversary Award, at the time she was already ailing and had to appear on the stage in a wheel chair. Yet when she spoke she still was full of energy and said that she would not easily give up her performance career. Ah Lek has always boasted about himself, but with Fei Jeh he would only admit to be in second place because Fei Jeh was also first. Chi Wai remembered when he was misbehaving Fei Jeh smacked him in the head and yelled at him. Only because Fei Jeh was next to him he was able to be a big kid. She was everyone's parent.

Performing guests aside from Friends of ENJOY YOURSELF TONIGHT also included the Grasshoppers, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Liza Wang Ming Chuen, Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai), Frances Yip Lai Yi and Kit Chan Kit Ling. The Grasshoppers opened the show with LET'S KEEP SMILING (YUT YU GAI JOOK SIU). They shared their experience with Fei Jeh. Nancy Sit Ka Yin and David Lo Dai Wai performed in the costumes of Fei Jeh and Roman Tam (Law Man)'s singing duo. Wu Fung dressed up like Fei Jeh and rapped, Chi Wai even reprised Fei Jeh's egg stepping classic performance, but he crushed all the eggs. When Friends of EYT performed Gossip Street they each talked about Fei Jeh's life. Lo Hoi Pang revealed that Fei Jeh was much more foul mouthed than she was, "When Shum Din Ha tested the mic, even Lo Hoi Pang has to sit down". Yeung Chin Wa thanked Fei Jeh for her blessing back then. She performed the Fei Jeh fan adaptation of her song YEUNG CHIN WA, SHUM DIN HA. The lyrics was about Fei Jeh's inner world and happy personality. Cheung Hok Yau two nights two nights ago performed many songs, aside from FEI JEH he also performed LIGHTLY TOUCH YOUR FACE because Fei Jeh liked the song.

Tsang Chi Wai pointed out that Fei Jeh's dream was for Joyce Cheng Yun Yi to inhert her talent, art and professionalism. Over the years everyone has seen Yun Yi's hard work and improvement, so Fei Jeh definitely would not be disappointed. He said to Fei Jeh, "Relax, Yun Yi will be able to spread your spirit and use this stage as proof." Yun Yi sat on Fei Jeh's trademark giant glasses and appeared in mid air. She said that when her mother passed away in 2008 she could not accept the fact, and she thanked those around her when encouraged and helped her at the time. She also remembered that her mother said whether at age 8, 18 to 80 she still had to accept challenges. Last night Yun Yi performed in the finale and was responsible for 20 minutes of the performance. She also shared details of her life with Mommy.

Yesterday afternoon when she attended the worship ceremony she said that she was the most afraid of talking, during rehearsal she broke down twice.
